Best Mate

Best Mate was one of the most loved horses in the UK. Best Mate became the greatest jumper in the UK. He was foaled in Ireland in 1995. Best Mate won the The Gold Cup three times in succession in 2002, 2003 and 2004. He is the first horse in 38 years to win four Gold Cups and only three others have before him

Best Mate was hoped to of won a fourth Gold Cup but burst a vessel in his final piece of work before the event and was withdrawn. On the 1st November 2005 he died of a suspect heart attack, after the William Hill Haldon Gold Cup at Exeter.

Red Rum

Red Rum one of the most famous racehorses. You don�t need to be a racing enthusiast to of heard of him.

He was foaled in 1965 and trained on the Southport sands by Ginger McCain. Red Rum won the 1973, 1974 and 1977 Grand. At the age of 30 Red Rum died in 1995.

Carlito Brigante

Carlito Brigante was foaled on 15 April 1992, by Robellino out of the mare Norpella. In his early years he was finishing at the back of the field at Haydock and Beverley before a better run at Haydock. After three flat wins, Carlito was switched to hurdling after three flat wins.

His biggest win in the Imperial Cup at Sandown beating Doctoor by 2 lengths. Carlito followed up with a second at Cheltenham in the 1997 County Hurdle, but was not to win again. At Leicester on 11 January 2000, was to be his last race. Carlito stumbled on the flat and was pulled up. He broken a leg and was put down on the turf.
